Elementary Music

Kindergarten through the second grade we lay the foundation of music. These students learn to sing using Solfege syllables, Curwen hand signs, and various other methods for teaching. During these years they are introduced to playing instruments in the percussion family as well as how to read rhythms. For Third grade through Fourth Grade our students learn to play the recorder, as well as reading the musical staff. They start on the soprano recorder. They also have a Christmas Program that is performed each December.
